Toyota Oil-Change Nightmare!

Debbie asked us to change the oil and filter on her Toyota Corolla. Simple you might think? Not so!

She came to us on recommendation after two previous workshops (one a Toyota dealer!) had failed to remove her old filter that had become seized due to over-tightening on a previous service. As you can see from the photos below, the previous efforts had left the casing in a mess and she was told that further attempts would result in the whole housing having to be replaced, costing hundreds of pounds!

Gibbs Brand to the rescue!

After soaking the joint where the filter case and its housing meet with Gibbs, we left it to soak for a few minutes. After a couple of sharp taps on the case with a brass mallet, we were able to unscrew it as normal with the correct tool. The rest of the oil change was then carried out as normal – Obviously not over-tightening the filter this time!

This is a typical problem that can be solved with the application of Gibbs Brand – we use it all the time!
